Getting to the Real You

Psalm 139 13-16 Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
1013596_S.jpg    you formed me in my mother’s womb.
I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking!
Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
    I worship in adoration—what a creation!
You know me inside and out,
    you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
before I’d even lived one day.

As we move closer to the new year the pressure is on again. What are we going to do next?  What is that thing God puts on repeat in your head daily and you try your best to suppress it? Did you know that you have God’s gift to the world trapped on the inside of you? You are a magnificent creation, full of life and potential!

Romans 8

22-23 All around us we observe a pregnant creation. The difficult times of pain throughout the world are simply birth pangs. But it’s not only around us; it’s within us. The Spirit of God is arousing us within. We’re also feeling the birth pangs. These sterile and barren bodies of ours are yearning for full deliverance.

Not only do we wait for what is within us to come out but the world is waiting to. My goal is to draw that out of people this year and beyond.

Did you know that you are made in the image of God? I want to hold up the mirror so you can get a glimpse of your true self. The you God says you are is simply amazing and unique. You are God’s workmanship made for good works!”

If you are full of ideas then you have the  traits of the all mighty God showing up in you right now. 1015715_S.jpg

Did you know that you were created to be a blessing? You are so special to God he said, “there is a problem in the world and I am going to send my solution!”   1013968_S.jpg >>>>>>>>>Enter you.  You are an answer to what the world is in need of. No one will be able to make your contribution quite like you. They could copy but it would be an obvious, cheap, knock off version of you.

Today it is time to take your vision out of the closet and dust it off. What makes us tuck them away? Today I invite you to use that beautiful brain and think.

You have so much potential in your deepest parts and I am here to draw it out. To expose you to your true self. I have some questions.

How much further will you go without fulfilling your hopes and dreams?

How long will you allow your dreams to be held hostage by the world’s standards.

What barriers, real or imagined, are keeping you from pursuing your dreams?

Who are you? Why are you hear? What is your purpose?

Who determines what you do with your  time?

Who is in charge of your daily life?

What things are necessary for you to thrive?

Who are you following?

Who is following you?

What is your value?

How do you spend your most valuable asset (time?)

I am convinced that as we walk in the direction of our creator we are going to be introduced to a self we never knew existed. Who would have thought you were in there the whole time! I’m excited to see where your vision takes you!

Galatians 5

22-23 But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.

The best part of being the real you is that you lose the desire to compete with anyone else. When we are this free we can help our neighbor to reach the same goals. 1015312_S.jpg

The Year of “Why Not”

Most people fail at their New Year’s resolution because they go into the new year with nothing but expectation that the new year holds something they did not possess in the previous year. We walk in empty handed expecting something to magically fulfill us.

This year I would like to try something different. With the time left in 2018 I am going to acquire the tools that will help me progress in my New Year’s resolution, getting a running start.
Keys to getting a running start

1. Never stop praying. 1 Thessalonians 5:17
When is it improper to consult with God? The spirit of God will lead us into all truth but if the line of communication is not open it shuts down the possibilities of the “exceedingly and abundantly above all we can “ask or imagine” if we never get to the ask. This is not a one-sided conversation. If you stay down long enough the spirit of God will answer you.
2. Get in the word.
Joshua 1:8 God charges Joshua saying “study this book of instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so that you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only the will you prosper and succeed in all you do.”
3. Get around like minded people.
Hebrews 10:24-25 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” There is great success when two or more agree and get together. Jesus declares “for where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”

These things come with the development of habits and consistency. One thing I have learned about God is that he will not take you where you do not want to go. He will never override your will. He will not act independently of you on your behalf unless he is invited.  The only way that I can pursue the things that God has for me is that I must have a strong desire for him. Instead of desiring the blessing so badly, I want to desire the one who blesses.

What I have discovered in times pass is that after receiving a word from God, I chased the visions and forgot the one who would give me the steps to complete it. This got me no where really fast.

Enter failure. Enter the will to not try again. Not this time! This time after receiving the vision I am going to go before God and ask what type of person I need to become to possess the promise. I want to be able to uphold it with a righteous standard that will allow God to sustain me when it comes.

For me God has named the new year “the year of why not”. Why not enjoy God? Why not pursue the passions God has placed in me? Why not go further than that which is expected of me. Why not pursue loving more, being more generous, spending time with people I love? Why not pursue the joy of the Lord where I find my strength? Why not kick the door down to limitations and hopelessness? There are many things that I have allowed to stop me from going for where I really want to be. This time the only thing that will set the focus for what I pursue is God’s word and his holy spirit.

Open the Door

There is something on the inside of you that rumbles and shakes begging to break forth and life and all of its circumstances are trying to suppress it.

Its unshakeable, banging on the door with insistence that you let it out.

It’s the one that makes you giddy when you mention it, makes you tremble at the thought of losing it.

That one that as a kid you saw it and you knew that if you could get your hands on it you would hold tight to it and never let it go.

When you close your eyes to recover from the day you see it.

When you hear its voice in the sound of the crowd you long for it.

When someone speaks ill against it you fume.

When you think of how great it would be to possess it you search for areas of your life where you can make room.

It’s the spot on the earth that God has carved out for you and only you can fit into it.

It’s your destiny.
