So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.
The best trip to pack for is heaven because we can leave behind everything that ways us down.
We can put off things like hatred, anger, depression, greed, lying, stress, the need for approval, and everything else that the world has attached to us that is contrary to the word of God.
What is weighing you down? What do you wake up with in the morning and groan inwardly because somehow it is still there?
I challenge you to make a list of weights that you are carrying and then lay them at the feet of Jesus who declares,
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” -Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)
In other words He will take your pain for His joy. Your sadness for His happiness. Your brokenness for His wholeness. Your bondage for His freedom.
Go on and lay it down, whatever it is as you pack for you trip to heaven.
